I received this book for free from in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

This tight end is at the top of his game.
He’s good with his hands, even better with his sexy mouth, and the best at making me forget my own name. His—ahem—stats are perfect.
But I can’t fall for him.
He might be everything I want, all rolled into a glorious package of gridiron god, but there’s one teeny-tiny problem. The vile, loathsome team I’ve spent my entire life hating—my beloved school’s arch-rival?
This guy is their star player.

The Rivalry scored really big! This hilarious, Sports Romance had me guffawing throughout the story and I wore a perpetual smile on my face while reading it! I honestly felt my heart pounding out of control during The Game, I was so unsure which team would win, how the story would pan out. This Standalone is told in alternating POV and I loved both side to it!  The team rivalry struck a chord with me; I’m the odd-man out in my family, since I quit rooting for my hometown NFL team over a decade ago and switched to another team. If you’re a Sports and Rom-Com lover, this is the book for you!

Kayla McCarthy is a senior at Ohio State and their cheerleading captain. She meets Jay at her friend Marcy’s wedding; they’re both in the bridal party, he’s a friend of the groom’s. When he has to leave expectantly, Kayla decides days later to try to find him. And when she does, she’s shocked to discover he not only goes to Michigan, but he’s a tight end on the football team.

“What’s your deal?”

“My dad used to coach defense for OSU: My mom gave birth to me right after a game, in the stands. Everyone in my family eats, sleeps and breathes Ohio State. We bleed red.”

“Newsflash for you. Everyone bleeds red.”

“You know what I mean. Or maybe you don’t. It doesn’t matter.

Jay Harris, number eighty-eight, might have a chance to be drafted to the NFL, if he and everyone plays their cards right. He doesn’t care what school Kayla goes to or about the rivalry. He likes her and thinks it shouldn’t matter; he just needs to convince her to give him a chance. Jay’s used to girls chasing him because of his position; he likes Kayla, partly because she likes him, in spite of it.  Now he thinks he won’t mind chasing someone instead. So he convinces Kayla to give him a chance, at least until the season starts, and she agrees as long as no one finds out.

“Ohio State fans. They could be balls-to-the-wall crazy. Didn’t matter. I wanted to be all up in her brand of crazy.”

Moments of hilarity ensue! Their banter, the back and forth, had me laughing so hard. Why did they fool themselves into believing no one would find out they were seeing each other? And the more time they spend together the more obvious it becomes that they aren’t just messing around. And what will happen when their secret is exposed? Read it to find out!
