Wooza, I’m in love! That’s all I can say about Reservations, a hot and smexy M/M book by the masters of that sub-genre, Kindle Alexander. This is a Standalone story; Thane appeared in a previous book and this is his story. It touched on all the elements that we love in romance; a great story with equal parts drama and humor not too heavy or too light. It had just the right amount of each to leave us happy and sighing at the end.
Thane Walker, at twenty nine, is a successful businessman with a chain of restaurants throughout the States. He lives in Maryland and his newest venue is in Coronado, California. Due to his busy lifestyle, he’d rather spend money on an escort, for a night or a determined period of time, and this way he won’t have to deal with the mess of a relationship gone wrong. His parent’s marriage ended in a painful divorce and he as a result he’s a little jaded. And having never been in love he just assumed it wasn’t for him. On the go constantly he didn’t have time for anything but casual, no mess no fuss, sex.
Thane has two successful restaurants located at the luxury resort, Escort in Coronado, and now he’s opening Reservations, a nightclub. The new concept was inspired by Julian Crane, an escort/friend Thane knows, intimately, for some time. Or rather, Julian’s an ex-escort, he retired after a brutal attack from an unknown client. The new club was Thane’s way of making sure others wouldn’t have the same fate. It was a place that members and escorts could meet and feel safe due to the high membership fees and vetting process. Thane hired Julian to work at the nightclub, as part of management.
Levi Silva, at twenty six, had to postpone his dream of being a doctor, after his father died, to help raise his two younger teenage brothers. He asked for a deferment at John Hopkins, so he could return to Coronado, not sure when or if he’d be able to go back to school. His physical therapist job isn’t enough to cover the bills so he moonlights at a coffee shop that unfortunately has just been sold. When Julian, a former P.T. client of his, comes in for a coffee he leaves his business card after offering Levi a job. He’s is reluctant to work there, as a waiter only, but takes the job anyway.
“Humiliation was a normal part of life. He just wished his heart didn’t hurt so bad.”
And this is where the story really takes off, when Thane and Levi see each other, at Reservations. Clear your day and plan to read straight to the end; this story is one you want to read in a single sitting. I wanted to shake some sense into Thane and scream at him to wake up and open his heart. While the story centers on Thane and Levi, I loved the interaction between Levi and his brothers, Logan and Luke. Especially Luke, the baby, the momma in me wanted to reach out and give him a huge hug and feed him! I wanted to cry for Levi, he’d been dealt a crappy hand in life. In spite of everything he kept trying to keep his head above water and keep his family together. Thane and Julian are great together, too. Their dialogue was quick and witty, with one-liners that had me laughing, throughout the story. Do yourselves a favor and make time for Reservations!
“Thane Walker was everything he had always wanted. All of his dreams coming true in a sexy, sweet package, which made the man dangerous.”
“Ever since the first time I laid eyes on you, I couldn’t get you out of my head. Then, after our first night together, I couldn’t get you out of my heart.”
