I received this book for free from in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Here’s a tip: never say never.
It all started in a barn, rolling around in the hay with a hot brunette. When I hooked up at my best friend’s wedding with the bride’s best friend, I had hay in places it should never be. And how my bowtie ended up around my dick was an entirely different story. I’ll give you a minute to consider the possibilities.
That first romp set the tone, and each sexual encounter with her that followed became more intense. The fact that all my fantastic orgasms were coming at the hand of one woman baffled me.
A lifetime of observation taught me that monogamy equated to boredom. Variety was the spice of life, in and out of the bedroom. I enjoyed the company of a sexy, smart, confident woman. It was my kryptonite. I was a master flirt, and my sexual skills were unrivaled.
With this woman, I had met my match.
Her carnal appetite a perfect match for mine, and she also taught me a few things along the way.
She called me Mr. Flirt, and could bring me to my knees at every turn.
Lesson learned: Sex always trumps sanity. (less)
Taming Mr. Flirt follows Mr. Wrong. It’s a Standalone that has interconnected characters from the first novel. I loved it, this is the first book I’ve read by this duo and it won’t be the last, I look forward to more!
Kyle Cleary is a scientist and a wealthy businessman; he’s been successful making perfumes, thanks to his nose. He met Soren and Luca while in college and the trio is best friends. When Jude and Brae, his girlfriend, decide to get married Kyle is chosen as best man by a flip of a coin, much to Soren’s dismay. He knows Kyle is the comic in the group and thinks he’s not up for the job. There’s a reason Vanessa, one of Brae’s best friends, calls Kyle “Mr. Flirt”. He’s never had a girlfriend, preferring to date or have one night stands; he doesn’t want or need a relationship. He hit it off with Vanessa right away; she’s the female version of him. So its natural Kyle and Vanessa should hook up at the wedding. A few time, actually.
“The scientist in me argued that mathematically finding love with one person didn’t make sense. I believed in love, but to love just one? Again, fuck no. Things like curiosity, creativity, statistical thinking, and logic meant something better was at the next discovery.
Discovering new things was the reason for my existence.”
Vanessa Monroe hasn’t had a boyfriend since college. She considers her best friends, Cassie, Desiree and Brae, her family, but even they don’t know all her secrets. She’s perfectly happy being single and is loved by them for her sharp, witty humor and unfiltered mouth. What she’s not happy with is her career. Vanessa hates her job and has always dreamed of traveling around the world, something she can’t do if she quits and has no income.
Of course it’s only natural that Vanessa and Kyle would see each other at different get togethers with Jude and Brae as they share mutual friends. And have sex, naturally. It seems they have an incredible, undeniable chemistry together. So Kyle offers her a proposition, a sort of uncommitted relationship, with rules, as friends with benefits. As they start to spend time together, the rules start to fly out the window. Kyle seems to be the one breaking them and Vanessa trying to keep them in place.
“I don’t know what you want me to say, Kyle. I like spending time with you, but I worry about the agreement between us…”
“Okay, we need to re-negotiate because it’s obvious you’re consumed by the rules.”
“That’s not true, if I was, you wouldn’t be here right now.”
Poor Vanessa has a secret, that she’s kept for years that has prevented her from finding love. Rules are good and they serve a purpose, to guard your heart and keep you safe. Kyle, the original Mr. Flirt, has changed his tune. It’s too bad Vanessa isn’t singing the same song, much less, the same key.
“Words I needed to say lodged in my throat, and I found it almost impossible to breathe. No words were spoken. Instead, in the silence so much had been said. Combined with the glistening in her beautiful eyes, it felt like a good-bye.”
I loved this story! I laughed out loud more times that I care to admit, Vanessa and her friends had the best lines, shocking everyone around them. The things that came out of her mouth, at the most inappropriate times, were hilarious. Aside from the humor, that I loved, I fell in love with Kyle as the story evolved. He was so incredibly sweet and all male, just the right combination of what we want in a book boyfriend. I wanted to shake some sense into Vanessa at times, give her a slap or two, to wake her up! And afterwards I wanted to hug her and tell her everything would be alright. I loved all the characters, this writing duo has won me over, and I can’t wait for Luca’s story!

We both stood staring at the hay strewn all around the barn. “That looks very scratchy,” Vanessa said with a frown.
“Allow me.” I removed my monkey-suit jacket and spread it over a mound of hay that was closest to us. A quick glance toward the door ensured we were out of sight if someone were to walk in. “Better?” With an enthusiastic nod, Vanessa lowered herself on my jacket, rested on her bent elbows, and stared up at me. I looked down at her and considered all the things I could do to her with my tongue. “That dress looks amazing on you, but I bet having it pushed up around your waist would make it look even better. I can’t wait to see if there’s a thong under it or lace panties. I’m a thong guy.”
“You talk a lot. Are you just going to flirt with me or are we going to put this hay to good use? You owe me an orgasm.”
“Oh, you’ll get one. Trust me.” My dick was in agreement as it came to life in my pants. Poor thing had struggled throughout the entire ceremony.
With each look and smile Vanessa gave me, my cock responded. There were a few times I had to glance at Brae’s great aunt Myrtle just to calm him down. But now, there was no calming down in his future.
There wasn’t anything romantic about this encounter, then again she didn’t seem to be into that bullshit. Neither was I, and that was what made our connection perfect.
