Part of a world I loathe.
Part of a family who hates me more than I hate myself.
Living with a girl who reminds me of my darkness.
I'm. In. Hell.
Also known as the Cosa Nostra.
My life was over the minute I stepped off that plane.
Son to a murdered mob boss.
Heir to a throne of murder and lies.
My name is Dante Nicolasi.
And there will be blood.
This is Book 8 in the Eagle Elite Series. I can’t believe this is Book. Number. Eight. I’m going on the record, I’m admitting this is the first book I’ve read in the series **covering my face** I want to go back and read what I missed! I loved this book. This series is about the Mafia, so be warned there’s plenty of violence. Like, chew your nails, sit on the edge of your seat action. I’m just sorry that when I go back and read them I’ll know what so many readers already know about the previous characters and the Family. This is Dante’s story.
Dante Luca Alfero Nicolasi has been living in Chicago for six months. His twin sister, Val, is married to Sergio, an assassin for the Sicilian Mafia, and now he’s under their protection. Dante is considered blood now.
“Blood in. No out.”
“Loyalty. Family. Honor. Independence. Class. Blood. Blood of my blood.”
There’s a reason the Cosa Nostra have that saying. He was inducted in New York and now he’s been sent to train. There are seven bosses that he has to answer to. He feels like instead of protection he’s being held in a prison. Being trained for who knows what, no one tells him anything. Now he’s been told he’s going to attend Eagle Elite University, a school that was attended by the sons of Italian royalty. They all went there, in the beginning, to gain information on the other families, so they could use it against each other. It was owned by the Abandonatos, and while they no longer attended, Dante was going there instead.
“If living with the Italian Mafia was Hell.
Being forced to attend Eagle Elite University—was the seventh circle.
My punishment for being born in the right family at the wrong time.”
His father had been involved in the Mafia, but had been killed by Xavier Petrov, a member of the Russian Mob. Xavier was dead, too. And now, his widow and Dante were living in the same house, being protected by the same people protecting him. And he hated her.
El married Xavier Petrov when she was just sixteen, after her parents were brutally slaughtered, and he was awarded El. The three years married to him had been a living hell. Beaten, raped and abused constantly, she was relieved when he was killed and she was free of him. Until, she was taken by the Italians, as spoils of war. Supposedly she had been protected by the Russians while married to one and now she was being protected by the Italians. Having lived in this way of life for so many years, El knows that there are only two ways out. Either they let her leave, to be picked up by the Russians or more than likely killed, or married to an Italian. Either option scares her. But not as much as living under the same roof as Dante does.
“Dante Nicolasi was easily the most beautiful and horrible person I’d ever met in my entire life. Looking at him was physically painful and touching him—well he’d never touched me until today.
Which meant he was either going to kill me or he was using me for something.
Was this how it was going to happen?
Without the protection of the Family back at the house?
Would he snap my neck?
Inject something into my skin?
Throw me off a building?
Or just beat me into submission?
And why didn’t anyone else notice the way his rage was barely kept in check? Even duing family dinners he looked ready to throw a knife at someone.
Dante wasn’t just angry.
He was anger itself.”
Poor El! She thought the life she’d lived with Xavier was bad. She thinks that the fear and uncertainty are worse.
“Do you need something?”
“I need you as a human shield.”
“So Italian royalty lives, and the Russian whore dies?
“Finally admitting how you spread your legs for the enemy.”
No, she’s sure the fear is much, much worse.
This story is riveting. If you’ve followed the series you’ll understand (and know) all the characters involved and their place in the Mafia. If not, don’t worry, you can easily catch up and know who’s who. There’s a lot of intrigue in Enrage, looks like someone might be betraying someone or the entire Family, and if they are, the consequences will be hell to pay. Of course, looks can be deceiving, bwahahaha! This is a sit-on-the-edge-of-your-seat story, with nail-biting action, and amazing sex thrown in the mix! By the end of it you’re relieved you lived through it and YOU weren’t killed by mistake or because you aren’t blood. You’ll understand, after you read it, it’s a Mafia thing! I’m so happy I’m one of the few who have seven previous books to read, for the first time, and there’s a ninth book coming later. Yaaay, me!
