Jodi Morgan is having a bad weekend.

After partying a little too hard, she wakes up with a monster hangover and almost no recollection of the night before. So imagine her surprise when she looks in her trunk and instead of finding a spare tire, she finds the last guy she'd danced with before blacking out.

Who is he? How did he get in there? How did he die? And oh dear lord, did she kill him!?

When her older brother's best friend offers to help, things start looking up. They've known each other since she was thirteen, and ten years later, he still treats her like a little kid - surely, committing felonies has to trigger some sort of spark. Together, they wind up going on an adventure that takes them all over Los Angeles. From raves to penthouses to strip clubs. All in the search for the answer to her question.

Who is the dead guy in my trunk!?

Warning: This book contains some dark humor, a lot of witty banter, and two characters making more bad decisions than good ones. Also contains adult themes, language, and graphic sexual activity.

I tend to gush too much when I write reviews for books I loved so I’ll try to contain myself. This will be REALLY HARD because I loved this book so much! I haven’t been able to stop talking about it to everyone that I know that loves to read. And to some people who don’t and can’t relate. Oh well, their loss.

As always, no spoilers, I’m just going to mention what’s in the blurb because I really want y’all to experience it. I will say that this reminded me of a Mash-up of the movie The Hangover and the TV show 24.

This quote from All About Eve (a favorite classic movie of mine) seems to sum up Just a Little Junk:

“Fasten your seatbelts, it’s going to be a bumpy night.”

Just A Little Junk comes with a warning that sets the tone for this the wild ride.

After a wild night of drinking and dancing and still feeling a little drunk Jodi Morgan finds a dead body in the trunk of her car, the next morning. Of course her first instinct is to show her brother’s high school best friend/her best friend/secretly-in-love with neighbor, Archer Calhoun.

“She’d fallen in love with Archer the first time she’d ever met him. She’d been thirteen and her older brother had just made varsity basketball. Big deal in their household. About two weeks after the announcement, he’d come home with a friend from the team—Archer Calhoun. If her family had been one of the poorest, Archer’s was probably the poorest.”

Archer’s just as hung over as Jodi is, it seems they were both partying at the same club, and he actually drove her home. Unsure if she’s responsible for the dead man in the trunk Jodi thinks that she should call the police. Archer is convinced that she had nothing to do with his death and gives her several reasons not to call the cops right away. Maybe they can figure out who he is, what happened, and why he ended up in her trunk. Or dump his body.

“I don’t want to go to prison” “I know you, Jo. Better than anyone else, and you could never do something like this. You couldn’t hurt a fly, let alone stuff a dead body into your trunk.”

“Then how did he get in there? It had to have happened before you took me home, and you said I was alone outside.”

“Doesn’t matter. You didn’t do this, I know it. And we’ll figure this out.”

Oh to have someone believe in you, and trust you so much, to the point that they’ll help you commit a crime! This is what true love, errr…..I mean true friendship, is all about.

“You’re innocent, Jo. And even if you weren’t….”

“If I’m not?”

“Then we’ll deal with it.”

“You would do that for me? Bury a body?” “Jo, if you haven’t figured out yet that I’d do just about anything for you, then you’re even stupider than you look.”

So starts the wild adventure to find out what happened the night before. From Pasadena to Malibu, from strip joint to penthouse, they run around Los Angeles looking for answers. I loved the funny banter between Jodi and Archer. I fell in love with both of them and was cheering out loud, not to mention laughing out loud, by the time it was all over.

Will Jodi and Archer find out who’s in the trunk? Only one way to find out!

About Stylo Fantome

Crazy woman from a remote location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity!), I have been writing since ... forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball - I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I'm clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.

I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don't trust anyone who doesn't drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there's your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair - both a curse and a blessing - and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can't understand me.

Yeah. I think that about sums me up.
