I received this book for free from in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
He’s the bad boy quarterback of Boston University's football team. As the son of a former NFL player, he’s showered with attention and praise twenty-four-seven. One flash of his smile and all the girls fall at his feet - or should I say to their knees?
And then there’s me.
Brady Lincoln is the last person I want attention from. He’s the kind of guy my father warned me about. His play on the field is legendary and his play with the ladies, even more so. I’ve managed to stay off his radar until recently.
What happens when the cocky quarterback breaks all the rules to win my heart?
Penalty by Jacob Chance is your typical sports romance—with a cocky quarterback who thinks he’s all that, and a shy, awkward yet gorgeous heroine. But despite its predictability and common theme, I enjoyed Penalty a lot. It’s a short yet entertaining book which will have you swoon and fall in love with Brody.
Brody is the biggest start on campus—cocky, arrogant, getting laid whenever he wants to—and doesn’t want his life to change. He’s enjoying himself, having the time of his life, until Harlow walks into his life and changes everything. The first moment they meet, he can’t stop thinking of her and won’t stop at nothing until he can call her his.
Harlow, on the other hand, is the opposite of Brody. She’s shy, prefers to be in the background, and studious. She’s your typical shy girl who’s also gorgeous without exploiting it. She’s weary of his reputation, with reason, and makes him work for it. Which I love. She isn’t a doormat, but has her own opinion and stands up for what she believes in.
I love how the relationship developed between Brody and Harlow—it was sweet, sexy, sensuous. I loved these characters, especially the side characters. Brody’s friends are awesome and I’m hoping they will be getting their own story—soon.
I did have a couple issues. Some of the plot is a little too predictable—I knew what will happen basically from page one. Also, the 180 Brody did from cocky womanizer to devoted boyfriend was a little too sudden for my taste.
Other than that, however, I have enjoyed Penalty immensely and will be continue to read more of Jacob Chance in the future!
