Series: Lockhart Brothers #4

Genres: Contemporary Romance

I received this book for free from in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I had it all.

Breaking into the entertainment business as a teenager wasn’t easy. I spent years of my childhood traveling, auditioning and hoping my big break would come. And when I did, I rose to a level I never imagined.

Elle Tyler: model, singer and actress. I couldn’t go anywhere without security anymore. It was everything I ever wanted and more - fame, fortune and worldwide recognition. At age twenty-four, I was living a dream.

But a single act of violence shattered my fairytale existence. In a matter of seconds, all the goodness in me was ripped to shreds. Overnight, the people around me dropped away, moving on to find the next big thing. I gave up on myself, becoming a woman so dark and forlorn I no longer recognized myself.

But the stranger who saved me that day, Justin Lockhart, never gave up on me. He still saw light through my darkness. And as we grew closer, I started to see it, too. And I also started to see that before that terrible day, maybe I didn’t really have it all. Maybe I was always missing the only thing that really matters.

A Great Balance of Humor and Emotion!

Hidden Depth is the 4th book in the Lockhart Brothers Series. It can be read as a standalone. It is actually the first Brenda Rothert book that I’ve read and I can’t figure out why!? If the others are as good as this one, I need to start adding to my TBR!

When an act of violence leaves singer and actress Elle Tyler close to death, Justin Lockhart comes to her rescue. He immediately feels a strong connection to her. He worries about how she is dealing with the aftermath of the violence and he can’t get her out of his mind.

“That’s the thing about survivors. We’re just regular people trying to live life the best we can, you know?”

Elle is having trouble dealing with the emotional and physical marks left behind after the attack. Justin makes sure he is there for her and never gives up on her and any chance of a ‘them’.

“I think that strength was always inside me, hidden away. We all have it. Sometimes we just need to breathe deep, feel the hurt that comes our way and then find our way forward.”

I loved this story. A great balance of emotion and humor. It kept me entertained and turning the pages from the first chapter to the last! 4.5 Stars!
