I received this book for free from in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Everyone knows there is no -I- in team, but to Macs Newstead--orgasm-gifting, muscle-filled Navy SEAL hero--there are more important words than team. Words like victory and vanity and selfishness. People say those words like they are a bad thing, but to Macs, they're simply tools in his highly effective arsenal. When a man's entire existence revolves around the necessity to end lives, silly, mundane things like second dates or monogamy seem worthy sacrifices.

Downward facing dog or doggy-style--it's all the same to Teala Smart, a whip-smart yoga instructor. She owns her studio like she owns her life--with focus, positive energy, and pure devotion. That devotion, however, does not trickle into her love life (or more accurately, her lust life.) Relationships are a roadblock to her success. They get in the way and tangle up emotions more than the lotus pose tangles up limbs. Men are best kept just for a night and then released into the wild before feelings get too messy.

HERO HAIR, the second novel of International Bestselling Author Rachel Robinson's THE REAL SEAL SERIES, is the account of an life-altering journey detailing the awakening of two hollow hearts, both set on taking their own pleasures without any emotional attachment. The ruthless SEAL finally meets an enemy he can't defeat, and both Macs and Teala find, against their wishes, and despite atrocious circumstances, a chemistry so explosive it leaves nothing but deconstructing love in its wake. *Due to language and graphic sex this novel is intended for readers 18+*

Rachel Robinson is hands down one of my absolute favorite authors. She never fails to deliver stories that will rip your heart out, while loving every minute of it. Hero Hair is the second story in her Real SEAL series, and the timeline coincides with the first book, but it can definitely be read as a standalone. However, if you haven’t read the first book, you need to now! It was so very good. Hero Hair is another fantastic tale of hope and survival, and what it means to overcome your fears.

Macs and Teala  are quite the pair. Both taking pleasure from whomever they want, whenever they want, neither wanting things to last past a night. On the surface, these two have definietely met their match in every way. When Teala’s friends lay down a challenge, for her to actually try and date someone, there is a possibility of so much more. Macs is willing to pretend to date Teala to get her friends off her back, and hopefully get something he wants in exchange. But it won’t be easy for these two commitment-phobes when the pretending becomes all too real.

I loved the push and pull between these two as they tried to navigate their way around each other. The sexual tension is off the charts as they try and deny their primary desires in order to date “normally”.  As always, Rachel Robinson infuses a healthy dose of humor that balances quite nicely with the darker aspects of the story. Just when these two start to come to grips with what is happening between them, the ground under their feet is swept away, and Teala is left with the harsh reality of what it means to be involved with a Seal.

At this point, the story takes a turn and the darker issues these two have been dealing with rear their ugly heads. I love the roller-coaster of emotions I experience with Rachel’s writing. The characters are so real and their experiences are relatable. The humor, heart, and angst make this one story you don’t want to miss. I can’t wait for more stories from these group of Seals.
