I received this book for free from in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Groupie

/ˈɡro͞opē/

a person, especially a young woman, who regularly follows a celebrity in the hope of meeting or getting to know them.

See example Tiffany Wendel:

Whore. Slut. Cleat Chaser. I’m used to the names so they don’t bother me. These are my boys. My friends. So what if I like to have dirty sex with them? My body is no one’s business but mine.

Why is Rowen Flanigan making me re-think how I live my life? Making me question my choices? He’s only a rookie.

Rook·ie

/ˈro͝okē/

a member of an athletic team in his first full season in that sport.

See example Rowen Flanigan:

Player. Son of a legend. Rookie.

Sure, I’d heard the stories of the groupies before. Who hasn’t? I’ve just been more sheltered than my teammates. So what? I didn’t expect her to be smart. Witty. Kind. She brings me to my knees in every way – except one.

That part? I’m saving until the time is right.

So how in the hell did I end up falling for a Groupie like Tiffany? And how in the hell is this going to work when everyone at my job has had a piece of the one thing I haven’t?

I am blown away by the way this book completely destroyed my pre-read bias. I started this book very sure that the heroine was not going to be like-able. She is the villain in any other romance, the other woman, the fun-time party girl who is looked down on by the wives and girlfriends. Sports producer, Tiffany parties with the team, enjoys sex and has earned her reputation as an easy conquest for any of the team members.

“Of course. If anyone understands how bad preconceived notions can be, it’s me.”

I definitely did not expect to fall for this completely flawed heroine so much that my heart broke for her before I’d even made it through half of this amazing story. And as much as I love Rowen (and who wouldn’t love a swoony, innocent hero?) I just completely fell IN LOVE and adore the strong, confident and brave Tiffany!

“… I love you,” I continue. “I love your brain. I love your beauty. I love your resting bitch face.” A giggle bursts out of her, and she quickly slaps a hand over her mouth. “I love your strength and your wit and your love of sports. I love that you work so hard at your job because you love it so much. I love your loyalty. I love your heart.”

This story, while being greatly entertaining and keeping me reading well into the night, was loaded with important messages including the far reaching power of social media. I was ready to dislike our heroine for her loose morals, but if it was the hero who slept around I would have swooned and just indulgently called him a manwhore. I think I’ve found a new favorite author and can’t wait to discover more books by M.E. Carter!!!

About M.E. Carter

“Mother, reader, storyteller - ME Carter never set out to write books. But when a friend practically forced a copy of Twilight into her hands, the love of the written word she had lost as a child was rekindled. With a story always rolling around in her head, it should come as no surprise that she finally started putting them on paper. She lives in Texas with her four children, Mary, Elizabeth, Carter and Bug, who sadly was born long after her pen name was created, and will probably need extensive therapy because of it.”
