Second and final instalment in the thrilling romance series, Amore.
He told me to run. So I ran.
It turns out just because you run from something, doesn’t mean it can’t find you.
He’s coming for me.
He wants what I hold closest.
He wants to lie, manipulate and use me.
He wants me to betray him.
Leader of the Italian Mafia.
Love of my life.
Father of my child.
He’s going to make me do the unthinkable.
There is no way out.
I’m trapped and about to make the biggest mistake of my life.
I’m running full throttle towards an oncoming train, and there isn’t a single thing I can do to stop it.
I’m going to become what I was most afraid of.
With the first book ending with a major cliffhanger, I was anxious to dive right into this story. I have to say it definitely didn’t go the way I thought it would, and I’m not sure how I feel about that. Still, there was plenty of drama, suspense, and angst to keep me turning the page.
We start out with a time jump from where the last book left off. This is where some of my disappointment came in considering the circumstances on how the first book ended. I had some confusion on what had happened during the “missing” time. Needless to say, Rafael and Julietta are in completely different roles than what we saw before. No longer together, outside forces continue to pray on them both.
There was a heavy theme of betrayal throughout the story, which carries over from the first book. This time, Rafael is the one who has reason to question Julietta and her actions. To say she is hiding things is an understatement. Lots of scheming and secrets come to a head between these two.
I loved seeing the characters from Bella’s other series, like Marcus and the Joker’s Wrath MC. That was a nice little treat. Overall, this was a quick, entertaining read that didn’t quite live up to the first book for me.
